Metal Gear Solid 4 was perhaps one of the best console games of this generation. Its innovations to stealth, fan service throughout, and absolutely chilling story are just a few reasons why MGS 4 will not soon be forgotten in video game history. If there would be a Metal Gear Solid 5 has long since been in the air, but around a month ago MGS creator, Hideo Kojima, confirmed its existence. The only thing he could say was this:
“On the topic of Metal Gear Solid 5, I can tell you two things,” Kojima told the French publisher IG Magazine. “There will be more infiltration, spying, and convincing people to do you ‘a favor’ than in the previousMGS. I loved the idea of the social interactions in Deus Ex: Human Revolution that we’ve seen. And if I say more about it, the ninja PR woman behind the door will chop me into pieces.”
The big news regarding the franchise today is that it seems an image has leaked out, maybe it was shown at Comic-Con but taken with a handheld camera? Maybe not? The image can be seen above and I’ll preface this all by saying at this point it is strictly a rumor as Konami has not confirmed anything, only stating on their Twitter “”Fake or real, We love a bit of speculation!” Apart from them, Cliffy B, Gears of War and Epic Games head, has since tweeted that Kojima has shown him some “secret stuff” at Comic-Con and that it looks amazing.
We’ve contacted Konami for further word on all this info.
UPDATE: In an email sent to Konami, I asked them if there was any merit to these images. In their response back they simply said: “We didn’t release them.” While I won’t speculate on the meaning of that, I think you guys can draw your own conclusions.
