Rhythm game connoisseurs Harmonix have decided to stray away from their music game reputation and instead dive into a more typical action genre. This has been made apparent by a finding on Gamasutra that shows Harmonix seeking a “Combat Designer to create real-time, single-player combat experiences for a brand new IP on next-generation hardware.”

The fact that Harmonix is diverging away from its normal music/rhythm style is something to get excited about in and of itself but couple that with the fact that they’re developing this into a next generation game, possibilities become endless. Their exact requirements go as follows:

-Minimum of 2 years experience in real-time combat design, preferably in console titles.
-Minimum of 1 shipped title. Please submit a list of titles worked on.
-Must have intimate knowledge of design theory and execution.
-Ability to implement and iterate on prototypes via script.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Proven track record in a deeply collaborative design environment.
-Ability to manage own deadlines and deliver polished content on time.
-Ability to think analytically and creatively.
-Strong work ethic and willingness to take initiative.

If you have those qualities, I have something for you! No matter who takes over this Combat Designer position, I have faith in Harmonix to produce one quality product.
