Recently, Sony shut down all rumors of cross game chat on PS3. This upset gamers all around the world, and xbox fanboys boasted about PS3 owners never getting cross game chat on a console without owning a 360. But is Sony telling the truth? If you have been paying attention at all to any form of gaming media, companies attempt a bluff to make the announcement not as predictable or for what ever other motive they have.
Not to long before E3 2010, rumors started that a new Twisted Metal was going to show up. David Jaffe he was not going to be at E3 2011, and neither was any new Twisted Metal game. At the end of Sony’s E3 2011 conference, a scale replica of Sweet Tooth’s ice cream truck a long with a new trailer for the new TM game showed up out of nowhere.
If you have been following the Playstation Blog, Sony added a feature that allowed a feature that allowed users to submit ideas for just about anything Sony could implement in the future. For as long as I can remember, Cross Game Voice Chat has been the number one feature. I personally think that some other ideas would be better for the overall gaming community (PS2 Backwards Compatibility Please!!!!!!!), but a majority of voters have agreed that cross game chat is a good idea.
At E3 2011, when the PS Vita took the stage, cross game voice chat was announced. However, this was supposed to be for the V, and the V only. Sony gamers rejoiced because with this announcement, they assumed that Ps3 would be getting cross game chat along with it’s little brother. According to Sony, the reason Playstation 3 can’t handle cross game and V can, is because Ps3 has only 256 MB of RAM, and V has 500+. Just hearing that figure shocked me, because I thought the V was going to be just slightly weaker that the PS3 is every way.
This is the part where I call shenanigans. Am I saying Sony is probably going to drop cross game on Ps3? No, but what I am saying is that I think the Playstation could probably do party chat, on at least exclusive games like Uncharted and Killzone. Maybe they shut down all rumors for cross game chat just so they can put the finishing touches on it and release it later this month? What do you think? Share your thoughts down below.
