It's Here!!!

 

Today is the big day and Microsoft took the floor first at E3 2011. Here is what Microsoft had to unveil at this years conference.

 


  • Activision debuted Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, giving us a hands on demo of the single player campaign.
  • Reboot of the new Tomb Raider series was revealed with some amazing game play footage via a hands on demo.
  • Electronic Arts used Peter Moore to reveal that they plan to have Madden NFL, Tiger Woods PGA Tour, FIFA and a title to be named later, Kinect compatible. There was also mention of a Kinect voice controlled Sims 3: Pets.
  • A hands on, or should I say voice on, demo was shown of Mass Effect 3 using the voice recognition software via the Kinect Sensor.
  • Ubisoft unveiled Ghost Recon: Future Soldier with a new feature titled Gunsmith, which allows you to disassemble and reassemble your weapons for complete customization and control all by using your hands, thanks to Kinect. It was also stated that all future Tom Clancy games will utilize the Kinect Sensor.
  • New Xbox Experience was shown bringing music, movies, television shows and sports to your Xbox 360. Xbox Bing will allow users to search Bing from their Xbox through Kinect voice recognition. Also Xbox will be bringing you live television from your 360 system thanks to the new feature Xbox Live TV. This update is scheduled for release the fall. UFC events will also be accessible via Xbox Live TV.
  • Cliff Bleszinski demoed Gears of War 3’s Co-op campaign mode with some help with rapper/actor Ice-T. Ice-t also stated that Bodycount will reunite to record a track for Gears of War 3’s Horde mode.
  • Crytek revealed a new title by the name of Ryse, a Roman Empire period piece FPS featuring the Kinect, where you are the warrior.
  • Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary will be released in November, bringing you the original Halo game using the Halo: Reach engine. 6 original multiplayer maps will be available as well as one map from Halo 2. Coop campaign will also be introduced to this HD remake.
  • Forza Motorsports 4 was revealed offering world tours, an expanded community and monthly updates, available October 11th, 2011.
  • Peter Molyneux from Lionshead Studios showed us the debut trailer of Fable: The Journey that utilizes the Xbox Kinect. The demo gave a peek at Kinect controls with horse riding and spell casting.
  • Minecraft will become available for Xbox 360 and will be Kinect compatible. Minecraft will be available exclusively for the Xbox 360 this winter.
  • Kinect Disneyland Adventures brings the magic of Disneyland directly into your living room. The entire theme park has recreated the entire park for your enjoyment.
  • Kinect Star Wars was shown as well, blending the greatness of the Star Wars Universe with the Xbox Kinect.
  • Dance Central 2 will feature tons more tracks also allowing the original Dance Central’s tracks to be played. The multiplayer features have also been enhanced allowing simultaneous multiplayer dance battles, thanks to those at Harmonix.
  • Kinect Sports Season Two will offer six new and exciting sports such as: football, golf, baseball, tennis, darts and skiing. New features like Hero Moments and Trophies will enhance the Kinect Sport gaming experience.
  • Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster allows children (or adults) to play alongside their favorite Sesame Street characters in fun and interactive adventures using the Xbox Kinect Sensor.
  • Launching today is Kinect Fun Labs. Lots of little gadgets and tools that show off the amazing power of the Kinect technology. Kinect Fun Labs is available today via the Kinect Hub on your Xbox 360 console.
  • And finally 343 Industries revealed Halo 4. The beginning of a new Halo trilogy featuring Master Chief. Available holiday 2012.

    Halo 4 is due out late 2012. Probably just before the world ends.

Microsoft was clearly focused on the Kinect hardware at E3 2011.Though many cried it was like a kinect conference more than Microsoft at Los Angeles’ Galen Center, the updates were almost leaked. However, I agree that the Star wars with a kinect touch was fair enough and will work pretty well. Seems these hardcore kinect games were the highlight of the E3 press conference!

  2. I for one am excited to see what the Kinect is fully capable of in the near future, especially with hardcore games.
