Well guys the wait is over after months of snapshots, Jens Berbensten (@jeb_) has finally made the announcment of Minecraft 1.3 release date. He mentioned it in a tweet a few days ago but today posted the announcment on Mojang.com making it 100% official. A little under a month from now- August 1st 2012- is when we will get to see the long awaited “New Update Available” screen.
Jens has Nathan Adams (@Dinnerbone) working his butt off now he has moved into the new MCHQ in Stockholm just to make sure all bugs are cleared before release.
Some of the things will not be fixed in 1.3 like the lighting bug which causes some blocks to stay shaded even if a light source is near it. Also since they have taken single player out of the game and made it a shell for the multiplayer there is a problem with the game eating away at your CPU, but both issues are said to be fixed in the 1.4 update. Jens has been nice enough do leave it until then so we haven’t got to wait any longer for 1.3
So guys, not long to wait now. Until then you can down load the lastest snapshot- 12w27a and get used to the vast amounts of new and awesome features.
Snapshot 12w27a changes:
- Bug fixes
- Optimizations
Also,
- Changes to pistons, less buggy but “will appear to update slightly slower”
