Further proof that the internet is a dark, twisted place if you needed any, having requested that a website who were distributing the runaway success that is Minecraft. It’s creator Markus “Notch” Persson has apparently been receiving death threats as can be seen in his tweet below.
So Not Cool It's Untrue
As Notch himself has said, this kind of stuff is not cool and while the man himself says he doesn’t fear for his safety, the fact still remains that if you love the game so much then you should not only be paying for it, but you should show one of the main men behind it some goddam respect. Remember kids, death threats are over the line.
The guy is an idiot. He’s probably making it up. Even if he isn’t, the executable is offered for free on the Minecraft site itself. From there, it can easily be played just fine for free. You can also play MP with that executable that Notch has always offered for free. Doing so simply requires the modification of one line in the INI. So people are so extremely upset about not having the game for free? Sounds pretty damn shady to me.

Well, kids are kids. A 12 year old that desperately needs youtube, just to access the start menu on windows 7, obviously has no clue what an .ini even is, or if it even exists. Yeah, they may get nodus, and complain about the features that don’t work on that, and so on. But Notch made this game, and like every other company he wants to be recognized for his work. If kids are sending him death threats, then shit. Tough noodles kids, that’s life. Go cry in a corner, now that your little chew toy is taken away.
If, for example, I were to get a death threat for making people pay to come on my server, I’d let the player on, then personally tell him/her off. Then I would ban the abuser. Simple. Notch has the peace of mind not to do that, and for that, I give him credit, for not going to the police, getting the threat’s ip address, and having the cops go to the abusers house, and arrest him/her for unlawful conduct.
Law has rules, and rules were made to protect deh people. If you break the law, you should pay appropriately for it.
I vote we counter the offender with life threats.
