(Exploration without the kid gloves. It may hurt a bit at first to play but it’s impossible to describe how rewarding the game is. You learn things in one way, trial and error.)

Sandbox games are some of my favorite types of games because they give you the freedom to explore, take chances, find new things, and have unique experiences. I think the days of linear gameplay are slowly coming to an end or at least being revolutionized in such a way that gamers never feel the gameplay itself has become linear. Don’t Starve thrives in this environment where the creators plop you into the game and wish you the best of luck.

Don’t Starve is one of a jumble of games that have been testing that out lately, just throwing gamers in and letting them figure things out on their own. Journey does something similar, and through sheer will and intellect, the player through trial and error, will stumble to the right answer.

That feeling of success, when you don’t know what to do, but you’re playing the game intuitively, thinking about what you should do, and wondering if the game will play along, is amazingly thrilling. It’s important to note though that you do get subtle hints at crucial moments, such as when you experience your first night and the game says “….(play the game to find out :) )”

Don’t Starve technically hasn’t been fully released yet and is still in Beta, but it seems to be following the success of fellow indie game Minecraft. One of the hallmarks of the early Minecraft was constant updates on a tight schedule that propelled the game forward and rewarded the players with new goodies encouraging them to buy the game early and support the developers. Like Minecraft as well the final release date isn’t as important as watching the game grow before your eyes.

Value

You get a lot when you buy Don’t Starve. For 12 dollars you get two copies of the game, each with Steam keys that are unlockable immediately. This is for a game that I have played for almost 8 hours, including 40 minutes with the Demo, and barely scratched the full End Game. The amount of sheer value here is phenomenal given that most $60 dollar game releases charge 10 times more than your 6 dollar license and barely scratch 8 hours on average on the story campaigns. That’s 10 times the value of regular games I’ve already received without mentioning the regular addons that will keep adding content to the game.

Art

After you get past the amazing amount of content that the game exudes you have an amazing presentation placed in front of you, with beautiful art direction that makes me reminisce on games like SuperBrothers: Sword and Sworcery.

It’s one thing to enjoy a game’s mechanics, enjoy the story, and enjoy the adventure, but it’s a whole other thing to enjoy the presentation, art form and graphics. You simply can’t knock the art direction of Don’t Starve, as even small  objects are focused on with minute detail to give the world a grim, rugged, and happy look that makes the game both beautiful and unique.

Sound

The sound is wonderful and has trigger that go off depending on your actions. If you’re right about to hit someone or get attacked, the fighting music initiates and gives you a real sense of excitement. The sound effects of the spiders and creatures really make the game jump out at you and immerse you in the environment.

At times the game does get a bit silent, and it’s why I slightly knocked the sound score a bit, but I’m hoping as newer updates are released, more sound effects, creatures, and music will be rolled out. Again like Minecraft, the music knows that it takes a backseat to the gameplay, sound effects, and immersion, and so it only kicks in when it’s needed, so as not to distract you.

Gameplay

The gameplay isn’t entirely unique but it does bring a lot of elements of gameplay together that haven’t necessarily seen themselves in the same place at once. Sure you can create items like Terraria, but those items will degrade just like Minecraft, and unlike both games, there are recipes for the most important items and mystery’s to be solved for the rest. The game also rewards and punishes you for discovering new things, as you go on your adventures, forcing you to be on your toes as you try to survive.

The gameplay is definitely punishing and you’ll have to get used to dying and starting over, but there are perks to playing that stay with you from one gameplay session to the next. That’s what keeps you coming back, because you do get better, your unlockables do stay with you, and your points do travel. I’m being vague on purpose btw, so as not to spoil anything.

The Gameplay can be extremely deep as well, just like Terraria where from the outset you don’t expect it to have all that much content, until you start scratching at the surface and the idea dawns on you.

For the naysayers that may call the game too shallow, simply ask them the difference between renewable items and finite ones. That discussion alone and the implications will hugely affect your Mid and Late game in Don’t Starve. Your early choices will affect that gameplay and there will be no way to go back except die and start over. This game demands multiple replays to feel its true intensity and richness.

A big issue I have with the game though is a lack of multiplayer support and I think the potential for robust multiplayer support and the potential for 3rd party mods and servers is huge.

The maps should also be bigger and a seed generator would also be nice. For those reasons the Gameplay score gets docked slightly, but still reigns higher than most games get.The best part of all of this though is the game is still in beta and like Minecraft is constantly releasing updates and new content supporting its player base.

Technical Excellence

There are very few bugs in a game this early in development surprisingly and the developers really have done their homework for the game. I’ve personally only had one bug occur and there was an easy fix to get rid of it which was to simply restart the game. That bug after 8 hours occurred twice and nothing since has crashed, lagged, or interrupted the immersion of the game

But because it’s still in Beta, there are many features the game is screaming to add, like multiplayer, and because you will have to wait for that content, possibly for a significant amount of time, this score does get docked but will get better as the game releases more content in the future addressing these issues, any other bugs that may be out there, or any other player concerns about the general gameplay.

Verdict

For any serious PC gamers, such as myself, this is a must own. The value, the lack of really fun survival games, and another open world Goliath all call out to the gamer. It’s a beautiful game to enjoy just for the Art, to enjoy for the thrill of survival, and to enjoy for the exploration. Most of all this game will leave you with a feeling of accomplishment and will reward you for every day you tick onto your total.

It keeps the gameplay fresh by adding challenges as you go, and you add challenges yourself as you explore and try new things. The sheer amount of time you sink into the game before it even gets a whiff of staleness is also impressive, with the promise that more content is being added, and a strict release schedule is counted down on the main menu of the game.

The game is a must buy, thoroughly enjoyable, and will be beloved by anyone that played and loved games like Minecraft or Terraria. It’s a solid A and at the very least you should give the Demo a try here:

The 1997 Sega Saturn title, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers, is finally seeing a localized release date here in the US! A whopping 16 years after it’s initial release, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers will be finally ported to the 3DS. This is exciting news considering the success of other Megami Tensei universe alums Persona 4 (Golden and Arena) and Catherine. We should all be able to get our hands on this exciting title on April 16, 2013. The official press release explains the title, as well as background on the game itself:

Soul Hackers delivers a first-person, dungeon-crawling RPG experience set in a future where technology and otherworldly forces meet in a macabre fusion of cyberpunk futurism and gothic horror. A first-person sci-fi RPG epic, Soul Hackers tells of a city held up as a beacon of humanity’s triumph of technology, but with an infernal secret. In this would-be utopia, a group of hackers takes on a centuries-old mystic society, and a battle for control over humanity’s fate is about to begin.

In the classic tradition of Shin Megami Tensei, players will have the compelling choice throughout their dungeon exploration to fight the enemy demons they encounter, or negotiate with them in an attempt to turn them into allies and teammates.  Soul Hackers on 3DS includes access to 30 additional demons, a new opening animation movie and theme song, improved controls, and quicker loading times.  Additionally players can use the 3DS’ bottom screen as an auto-mapping function, and engage a COMP hack to change difficulty levels on the fly and fill out maps without walking through.  After clearing the game initially, the 3DS version of Soul Hackers also delivers an extra dungeon, where players will witness the appearance of Raidou Kuzunoha from the previous Devil Summoner games.

So, let me ask you, are you excited to get your hands on this forgotten piece of the Megami Tensei universe? Personally, I am excited to see the handful of extra features that will be accompanying the relaunched title!

The original Borderlands was released well over two years (October 20th, 2009 to be exact) and it came as no surprise to many that Gearbox, the developers of Borderlands, announced a sequel not long after the game’s popularity exploded among critics and normal folk alike. The thing that helped Borderlands in its popularity explosion is arguable, but there’s no doubt that one of the things was the wide variety of weapons and when I say wide, I mean wide. According to Gearbox, as of its release, Borderlands featured around 17,750,000 different variations of guns. While finding all of those is pretty much impossible, it’s still fun to look. I found at least twenty. I’m about half way there.

The other thing was the combination of RPG mechanics and standard first-person shooting mechanics. As a trailer for the game once put it, “The RPG and FPS made a baby,” simple, but correct. The game introduced many different open-world opportunities and tons of NPC’s to grab some quests from. The heart of the whole experience was the loot, though. Oh the sweet loot, watching guns and money pop out of your enemies was like watching candy rain from the sky.

All of those stunning features shall return in Borderlands 2, along with a few new well-appreciated additions. In a rather surprising note, one of the first press releases sent out regarding Borderlands 2 was a casting call for a female to portray the Siren Lilith in a live-action scene in the game. At this point I was not sure if this should be a good thing or a bad thing.

In the first real press release sent out following the game’s announcement, the mantra “bigger, better, and more badass” was placed upon the game. As stupid as that sounds, it fits the attitude exhibited by everything pertaining to Borderlands perfectly. Also unveiled was the return of everything you loved from the first but most importantly, when you preorder Borderlands 2, you gain access to the “Borderlands 2: Premiere Club.” Being in this club will get you a unique gun pack, an item to increase the player’s gear-hunting fortune, and a key that will unlock a rare item through something called the “Golden Sanctuary Loot Chest.”

In arguably, ah hell, not arguably, the best trailer released in the past 10 years, Gearbox unveiled a few things. You’re going to get a lot more of the same stuff, some UI enhancements, and four new characters. The characters names are Axton (Class: Commando), Zer0 (Stealth), Salvador (Gunzerker), and Maya (Siren). The more interesting of the bunch seems to be Salvador. He’s a Gunzerker which obviously means the man loves heavy weapons, obviously. The big thing about him seems to be the fact that he can wield multiple heavy weapons, like a sniper rifle and a rocket launcher, perhaps? Because that seems like the best choice. Also mentioned was more wub wub, which no one can deny their want for.

Eventually, the role of Lilith (and the actress, Yasemin, Arslan) was unveiled. In Borderlands 2 she will play a role similar to the Guardian Angel from the first game, occasionally popping up In a live-action role with thoughts on the current situation in the game’s returned setting, Pandora. Don’t fret though as the Guardian Angel character will return as well, though we’re unsure in what form.

Possibly the last “big news” surrounding Borderlands prior to its release hit around two months ago as Gearbox announced two special editions of the game, the first being called Deluxe Vault Hunter’s Collector Edition (100 bucks), and the second dawned the name Ultimate Loot Chest Limited Edition (150 bucks). Awful names aside, the Deluxe Vault Hunter features “a copy of Borderlands 2; authentic Marcus Kincaid bobblehead ; Inside the Vault: The Art & Design of Borderlands 2 hardbound book; collectable sticker set; map of Pandora; digital comic download code; and bonus downloadable in-game digital content. “ While the Loot Chest contains “ all of those items, plus a collectable scaled replica of the red loot chests found throughout Pandora in Borderlands 2; steelbook case; Creatures of Pandora wide-format ID chart; lithograph postcard set; field notes from Sir Hammerlock; cloth map of Pandora; and a numbered certificate of authenticity. “ Why you would purchase either of those two editions is beyond me but if you do, enjoy it!

Let’s all be honest here, pretty much no one cares about the fiction in Borderlands. If you do, I’m glad, but I know most people don’t and if you’re like me, you don’t care what’s new in Borderlands 2, you just want more.  Which is exactly what Gearbox is giving us; they’re delivering more of everything with a small dash of new content. In most games, that would be a strong negative. In Borderlands, however, that’s one of the best  selling points you can present.

Borderlands 2 releases September 18th for America and 21st for Europe.

Well guys the wait is over after months of snapshots, Jens Berbensten (@jeb_) has finally made the announcment of Minecraft 1.3 release date. He mentioned it in a tweet a few days ago but today posted the announcment on Mojang.com making it 100% official. A little under a month from now- August 1st 2012- is when we will get to see the long awaited “New Update Available” screen.

The Minecraft update screen everyone is waiting for!

Jens has Nathan Adams (@Dinnerbone) working his butt off now he has moved into the new MCHQ in Stockholm just to make sure all bugs are cleared before release.
Some of the things will not be fixed in 1.3 like the lighting bug which causes some blocks to stay shaded even if a light source is near it. Also since they have taken single player out of the game and made it a shell for the multiplayer there is a problem with the game eating away at your CPU, but both issues are said to be fixed in the 1.4 update. Jens has been nice enough do leave it until then so we haven’t got to wait any longer for 1.3

So guys, not long to wait now. Until then you can down load the lastest snapshot- 12w27a and get used to the vast amounts of new and awesome features.

Snapshot 12w27a changes:

  • Bug fixes
  • Optimizations

Also,

  • Changes to pistons, less buggy but “will appear to update slightly slower”

You can download the Snapshot files here:

It seems our summer draught will continue on as the much anticipated Far Cry 3 has been pushed back by three months all the way to December 4th.

“Yes it’s true. To give you more action and insanity, #FarCry3 will now be released November 29th in Europe & December 4 in North America” Said the official Twitter page of the game.

Far Cry looked rather ridiculous at E3 but it continued to be a hotly anticipated game in 2012, a year where there aren’t many “hot” games to anticipate. Thankfully, Far Cry will still be released this year, be it later rather than sooner. This delay definitely makes the month of September less appealing as now the only big titles to expect are Borderlands 2 and… NBA Baller Beats?

League of Legends players, the moment has finally arrived! Pulsefire Ezreal has made his official League of Legends appearance and Riot has made sure to make this legendary skin a memorable one with a new Summoner Icon and Profile Banner!

Finally, some new summoner graphics!

Now, if you were familiar with Ezreal’s original Pulsefire skin, it had some pretty cool effects and some cool new voice clips (including an “9000 power level” taunt) but Riot kept saying the skin wasn’t up to par and it would be redone to an even higher quality… soon. Quite some time has passed and today’s announcement has shed some light on exactly what changes Riot wanted to make to the infamous legendary skin.

First off, Ezreal’s “suit” actually evolves when you level at points in combat. The concept sounds insane, so here are the video clips to demonstrate:

Level 1

Level 6

Level 11

and Level 16

Each upgrade is pretty cool but obviously just aesthetic. One of his cooler new animations has him taking off into the air with his jetpack. He also features some nifty new particle effects that effect not only his attacks but some of the animation effects when champions and minions are killed. Pulsefire Ezreal simply changes each match he is in.

The small drawback to Pulsefire Ezreal is his price tag, 3250 RP or $25 USD. Fortunately, when he is released (probably next week) his bundle will actually be 50% off for the first 4 days. That sale price will actually make Pulsefire Ezreal cheaper than older legendary skins!

Are you planning on picking up Pulsefire Ezreal on day 1? Let us know what you think below and also be sure to swing by Riot’s official Pulsefire Ezreal page to see more on this kickass skin.

With Forza having announced Horizon it seems as though we shouldn’t forget the driving games grand daddy that is Need For Speed. While the series had been getting a little old, this new wave of open world driving games look set to breathe new life into the series, especially Need For Speed. This time around you won’t merely be pointed to a race and have to compete in it, Most Wanted is offering up a lifetime score tracker for bragging rights amongst your friends and online and also giving more freedom to the player.

As you play the game you will get Speed Points for doing just about anything and it is these that build up the overall score for players. With all dangerous driving though you are sure to alert the local Police Force which could lead to some problems because they are not afraid of chasing you down throughout the streets. Multiplayer will also feature heavily allowing you and friends to cause havoc on four wheels across the entire city when the game releases on October 30th.

Gaming Irresponsibly will be bringing you updates as they are made available for the duration of E3. Stay tuned for more news and happenings from the industry’s largest convention here at GamingIrresponsibly.com! You can also follow our updates on Facebook and Twitter

The latest addition to the horror game franchise looks terrifying even in coop. The trailer shows us Issac heading toward a snowy planet with a few other crew members before the ship is torn apart and our hero is left alone to face the giant and snowy horrors that wait for him below. Some scens look similar to the previous outings with giant Necromorphs causing some problems when trying to ride the elevator.

Following the trailer, we got to see the games most talked about feature, coop play. While some had said that this would take away from the scares that the game gives, the gameplay seems to suggest otherwise. Even playing with a partner the sudden appearance of the deadly Necromorph’s is still just as terrifying and intense as ever. Whether you play alone or with a friend, it still looks as though we will be in for a fright and one hell of an exciting experience when Dead Space 3 crashes into stores in February 2013.

We’ve had well over six months to work our way around the glorious and magnificent world of Skyrim and despite having such an enormous open world, many have worked through the key parts of the game itself and have been long awaiting with baited breath the next epic installment. Well that wait is now almost over.

Earlier today, Bethesda released a new trailer for the add-on, introducing us to what seems like a new area which we will be able to explore, bringing with a whole host of new and incredible features. From the trailer, it looks as though we will be meeting a new faction of vampires with far more menacing plans than any we have met so far, as well as new foes, parts of the trailer seem to suggest that we will be able to become one of them and begin a brutal rampage of terror in a new form.

You can check out the trailer below, Bethesda have given a tentative release date of Summer 2012, hopefully we will get something solid when E3 rolls around. Pricing has been confirmed for the Xbox 360 at 1600 Microsoft Points, notably cheaper than the Shivering Isles expansion we had for Oblivion. No word yet on when we can expect to see Dawnguard on PS3 or PC.

It is finally here.  The MMO that has been in the making for years will finally be able to reach our eager gamer hands in months.  Early this morning the ArenaNet blog was updated with a post titled “Welcome to the Year of the Dragon.”  The post was written by none other than Mike O’Brien, the Founder and President of ArenaNet.  The post coincides with the beginning of the Chinese New Year.  According to the Chinese zodiac, this year is the year of the Dragon.  The ArenaNet blog post took the opportunity to elaborate on the symbolism of the dragon and announce that Guild Wars 2 will be launched this year.

One of the most awaited games of this generation will finally come out this year

The post reads “This year, you’ll finally be able to immerse yourself in the vast, diverse world of Tyria.”  This is monumental for this game, since the team of developers became quickly known by their firm reply on the games launch date: “It’ll be released when it’s finished/ready.”  Furthermore, the blog post indicates that closed beta testing is complete and will move to “progressively larger” testing events.  The blog post did not specify a release date, but it mentioned that the release of the game will take place later this year.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the time has finally arrived! The official release date for the Back to Karkand Map Pack has been released after months of teaser trailers.

The Playstation 3 will get the expansion pack on December 6th. Everyone else will get it one week later, on December 13th.

For those who don’t know, the Back to Karkand Expansion pack will contain Frostbite 2.0 remakes of four of the best Battlefield 2 maps. The expansion will include the 4 maps, 10 new weapons, 3 BF 2 vehicles and 1 completely new one! There will also be 5 new achievements/trophies.

From what I saw in the trailers, it looks like some sweet new vertical-takeoff jets will be arriving on the battlefield in the coming weeks. The maps will be put into the normal map rotation, and the weapons will be unlocked using a new “Assignment” system. Even better, the new weapons will be available on ALL of the maps, not just the new ones. The 13th just couldn’t come quicker…

Which map are you most looking forward to seeing return with remastered graphics and destruction?

EA Customer Support

Wait A Minute.......

As you may have heard, Battlefield 3 finally hit stores last week and was I excited to finally play it. Having pre ordered the limited edition (with the physical warfare pack), I was itching to get into a game and use the bonus weapons to my advantage online, seeing as EA cunningly sold me a Black Ops campaign, but then the code didn’t work.

Staring me in the face was the dreaded error message saying my code had already been used. Having never had an issue before I hopped on the EA website to see what my options were. Seeing as the live chat wait was a good half an hour and phone support was premium rate, I settled on good old fashioned email with 24 hour turn around.

The following day, having not received a response, I just thought “Well, I sent it kinda late, I’ll give it a bit longer”. What? I a patient guy I am. The three day mark came and went so I added a note to the complaint, expressing my dismay at not receiving a response and double checked my details. They were fine.

Eventually the 5 day mark had rolled around, on more than one occasion I had had my ass totally handed to me by people using weapons from the physical warfare pack and left me screaming “It should have been me dammit!” and I was pretty pissed, so I succumbed to a fifteen minute wait in my busy schedule, to finally get hold of someone.

My first impression of the live chat was that it had to be an automated system, asked the same questions several times it was either that or this person had a poor understanding of English and the inability to scroll up through a conversation. Finally, I was given a link to make a warranty claim for the problem, a link which did nothing but bring me back to the help centre before finally being told that I should take it up with the store. How exactly can a retailer which has already directed me to this hellish tech support sort a problem with a non working code from inside a sealed product?

Accidentally, due to some rather heavy rage clicking, I managed to moronically close the chat window so put up with another ten minute wait to hopefully speak to someone competent. This was not the case, already knowing the moronic questions I would be asked, I got straight in there with all the details that I had been asked for first time round. Despite the service still being stuck you can read the account of an irate gamer below. In both text and pictures cause I’m such a great guy and don’t want to be called a liar.

Kapil:Thanks for contacting EA Help! My name is Kapil how may I help you?

you:I spoke to someone already but ended the conversation by mistake, i have an xbox 360, my physical warfare pack code doesn’t work from the BF3 limited edition, i bought the game from Gamestation in cannock, UK and they say to contact you because the code was inside the case and is nothing to do with them. My email for my EA account is (Why would I leave my email here) and my date of birth is (Old enough)

Kapil:You have to contact to your retailer for the invalid code

you:But it was in the bax, they didn’t provide it you did

you:*box

you:how is it a retailer issue of it was in the box?

Kapil:You have to make contact to the warranty.

you:The link i was given didn’t work, why can i not just get another code, it is your fault, you sent out either a duplicate code or an invalid one, i paid extra for the limited edition as well as pre ordering and now i can’t access content YOU provided because of an error on your end. How is it anything to do with the retailer. Also if i go through warranty i will likely have to return the game meaning that i won’t have a game to play at all, let alone the extra content

Kapil:http://warrantyinfo.ea.com

you:takes me back to the help center where i came to this conversation from

Kapil:Is the link for the warranty department

you:no it redirects to the help center

Kapil:okay

Kapil:Here is the phone suport

Kapil:0870 2432435

you:So i have to pay for a phonecall to a premium rate number to get what i already paid for? I doubt i will be reimbursed for the call how much does it cost and how will thy be able to help me any differently than you? It’s the same service through a different method

you:not to mention the fact that i never received any email over 5 days when your site claims i will get a response in 24 hours

you:Also, phone support is closed i already tried them so by the time i get to a phone advisor it will be a week since i first raised the issue

Kapil:okay

Kapil:Can i know your EA Email id?

you:(I’m not leaving my email at this bit either)

Kapil:We are not able to give you the code

Kapil:I am creating an exception for you

Kapil:Here is the code that you can use for the physical warfare pack

Kapil:Are we still connected?

you:yeah im still here

you:and thank you

Kapil:[code removed, it wouldn't have worked for you guys now anyway] <<<<(VICTORY)

Kapil:Is there anything I can help you at this moment?

you:No that's it thank you

Kapil:Thank you for contacting EA help. I appreciate your time and have a great day!

As you can see, I was so annoyed I even forgot to capitalize my I's.

I have never had any need to get hold of a game company for any issue before and this first experience has left a very bitter taste, if I ever need to do this again I just pray to all that is holy, that it is never with EA or anyone with similar systems/staff.

War in the North Release Date

EA's attrocious customer support isn't the only thing that has me riled this week, chatting away about upcoming release, I found out that LOTR War in the North was coming to OnLive, with Batman being delayed this would be my first use of the system for a newly released, AAA title that I actually wanted to have a go with. If I didn't live in the UK.

I understand that sometimes there is an issue with translating a game or running it in a different format but this is not the case here. Over in the US, Europe and Australia it has been proven that the game is ready in the correct language and format, so why the hell is it only going to be available here in three weeks.

Three weeks is an absolute joke, a mockery if you will of a delay. If I wanted the game enough, it would take less than 24 hours for me to make my way to France, grab a copy of the game and be playing it at home, but the official release is the 24th.

Then as if to add insult to injury I received 2 separate emails telling me about the great preview of the game which was exclusive to OnLive in the UK. I wouldn't need an exclusive preview to play if the game was just released at the same time as any of the other locations in the world, three continents including the one my country is in have the game, but I have a preview so it's all good I suppose.

Sony finally announced the pricing and release date for the company’s upcoming handheld device Vita early this morning for the US, UK, Australia, and New Zealand regions.

Vita will be released in the US and UK on February 22, while the Australia and New Zealand will receive the system one day later.  Pricing wise, the WiFi version will cost $249.99 (£229.99, €249.99, AUD $349.95, NZD $449.95), while the 3G connectivity version will retail at $299.99 (£279.99, €299.99, AUD $449.95, NZD $549.95).  No word yet on how much the 3G data plan will run gamers.

Launch lineups for each region have not been confirmed at this time, but the system currently has over 100 titles in development like Assassin’s Creed, FIFA, and Call of Duty.

The system will make its first appearance in stores in Japan on December 17. The above picture is what the US packaging will look like upon release.  Hopefully Sony can make an even bigger splash in the handheld market than the PSP did.

HD remakes are all the rage at the moment, with the likes of Halo and Splinter Cell having been given the treatment, to name just a few in the coming months, not to be outdone and confirming some month old rumours, the gaming giants today confirmed that one of the most popular, demon hunting series will be returning.

Dante will be renewed and updated to full, glorious HD in three outings, included in the collection will be the original trilogy, which many consider to have been the best of a series which saw a downward slant in more recent outings.

The Devil May Cry HD Collection will be released in early 2012 at the reduced price of $39.99 for both Xbox 360 and PS3.

Tokyo Game Show 2011 is just around the corner and there is some pretty epic stuff heading our way, while some of it has already been released, such as Child of Eden, there is also plenty of pre release stuff and we will more than likely see the odd announcement. So, here is a brief preview of what we should expect out of the Tokyo Game Show.

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance

Square Enix and Disney return with Dream Drop Distance. While not a direct sequel in the series, the game will feature recurring characters and have it’s own, stand alone storyline. The game has not yet been playable at at any expos. The game will be playable at TGS with a new trailer and some details due, the game still has no confirmed release date, or rating as of yet so this could be some of the information that comes out of the expo.

The gameplay is supposed to be similar to the style that Square are using for Final Fantasy XIII Vs. which Square Enix have confirmed, will NOT feature at TGS. All the stuff rumoured from E3 2011 is actually going to be present here, not just the playability but also a new trailer.

Game Of Hell

Square Enix, mysterious project is getting new details at the expo, but what they will be still remains a mystery. The game first came to everyone’s attention when Square set up a website for the game, proclaiming it as “the new title of Hell”.

While nothing official has been released yet, they are going to be talking about it at TGS and while there is a lack of official details, it was discovered that the developers had copyrighted the title “Lord Of Apocalypse”. This led many to speculate that the game would be a sequel to Lord of Arcana. Square Enix have neither confirmed, nor denied these claims so hopefully, The Game of Hell will finally get some new details in Japan.

Asura’s Wrath

Yasha

Tokyo Game Show isn’t going to just be Square Enix’ party. Capcom will also be there, amongst others, with one of their strongest titles Asura’s Wrath. This is another entry that is likely to be playable at TGS, with fresh details confirmed to be announced, after Capcom confirmed a second playable character. With the release slated for early next year and fans having been voting whether or not the game will feature on PC or Wii U, the winner of this vote could also be announced at the show.

The game focuses on Asura, a demigod who has his powers stripped by the Gods and is seeking revenge. Yasha is Asura’s brother in law, who begins his battle after his wife, Asura’s sister, is murdered. Yasha is described as a faster character so not only will the game feature two storylines, we can also hopefully, look forward to two different gameplay experiences.

PS Vita With 30 games?

Sony have already confirmed several games for their latest hand-held venture, but those with a keen eye will have noticed that they haven’t announced 30. If the rumours floating around are to be believed, Sony will be showcasing a whole, pardon my language, shit ton of brand new titles.

The Vita will be replacing the PSP which has seen a lot of success, even getting it’s own cell phone incarnation. The Vita will outdated the PSP by featuring an OLED 5 inch touch screen, dual thumb sticks, regular PSP controls and a touch sensitive back panel. Under the PSP like exterior it will have updated guts, even featuring 2 quad core processors one of which is purely for the graphics.

New games might not be the only thing, the Vita still has no confirmed release date other than quarter 4 of this year for Japan and early 2012 for the rest of us. While this rules them out of the Christmas race for the majority of the world, a confirmed release date for the Japanese would certainly mean a huge amount of units shifted over the holiday season.

30 Games At Release And We'll Be Spoilt For Choice

Dragon Quest X

Set for release on the Wii and Wii U, Dragon Quest X is the latest addition the already successful RPG series and this time around, multiplayer is going to be the name of the game. Dragon Quest X is supposedly going to have more of an MMO feel to it, which would be a nice addition to the Wii line up and give people who want more multiplayer action, a reason to dust off the old Nintendo.

Few details about the game are available so this is a prime candidate for a whole lot of new information, with the only thing currently worth noting that the game will feature six different playable races and will take place over five continents.

Final Fantasy, Lots Of Final Fantasy

When it comes to one of the biggest JRPG series, Square Enix are breaking out the big gun this year bringing not one, nor two but three Final Fantasy games along with them.

We’ll start off looking at what will probably be the least exciting in the form of Final Fantasy Theatrhythm for the 3DS. As the name suggests, Theatrhythm will be

a rhythm based game, a deviation from the usual RPG style, players will choose a game from the series, from the original right up to XIII, each game will have three levels and difficulty will be changeable. To progress through the game, players will have to tap the screen in time with the rhythm of the music, similar to Guitar Hero.

Next up is the more anticipated Final Fantasy 0 for the PSP. Despite the first due to hit shelves, no release has been confirmed for anywhere other than Japan who will be able to pick it up on October 27th. The game will be playable at TGS, if you have time to move away from the Vita and looks pretty good. The game is said to be massive and with fourteen selectable characters, it sounds it, throughout the game players will travel from town to town, accepting missions from various sources. Each character has differing strengths and weaknesses, so depending on what each mission entails, the player will have to select the three characters whose abilities seem the most useful. Despite having a “unique multiplayer experience” the game is not an MMO.

Last, but by no means least, is Final Fantasy XIII-2. Having been given the new screen treatment just a few days ago, more details are sure to be announced at TGS. Obviously the game is a direct sequel, with the developers wanting to do some more character building. It was also confirmed in a Q and A with Motomu Toriyama that the game will rely heavily on time travel, with players having to travel through time in order to solve certain quests and missions. Despite some mixed reviews for its predecessor, the sequel looks and sounds less linear and far superior to the first part.

Is Square Enix Capable of Creating the RPG of the Year?

DMC HD Collection

One of Capcom’s biggest series, Devil May Cry, has an anniversary rolling round soon so this would have been rumoured anyway. But, with the ERSB recently having let the cat out of the bag and trailers already online, a Tokyo Game Show announcement shouldn’t be ruled out. With the attention around the series already rising, handing out some details or a new trailer could only mean good things for Capcom and would be a wasted opportunity if not.

Monster Hunter 3G With 3DS Peripheral3DS Second analog nub

Just the other day, news came that the latest Monster Hunter game for the 3DS would be changing the way you played 3DS. The attachment in question extends the size of the console but also adds a second thumb stick. This will not be essential for playing the game seeing as the developers have thrown in some new, innovative ways to control the game using the camera and changeable touch screen controls. While the game will get some attention the peripheral opens a lot of doors for the 3DS, meaning that more advanced games, the required two sticks will in the future be a possibility for the console. Perhaps Nintendo should have announced this before slashing the price, but the cut in price has still had the desired effect, boosting the consoles sales pretty well. Having only been announced days ago, the game is on course for a late 2011 release date in Japan so a showcase shouldn’t be ruled out.

Resident Evil 6

Ever since that picture turned up, apparently out of comic con, you all know the one I’m talking about, the inevitable Resident Evil 6 has been floating around the internet rumour mill. No solid details, not even confirmation have turned up from official, credible sources. But, believe the dates centred around the image and you can almost guarantee that some information, at some point will appear at TGS this year and if I’m wrong, I will purchase, cook and eat a hat.

The 6th of March 2012: The date that is likely to be the Harbinger of our destruction. Or maybe I am just being overly dramatic here…

It is common knowledge that the release date for Mass Effect was pushed back, or in my opinion shoved into dark space. I couldn’t help but feel a twinge of physical pain within the pit of my stomach because of this news.

I for one like to believe that I can be quite optimistic. The promise of Mass Effect 3 resting delicately inside my Xbox360 in a few months was the kind of thought that spurred me on.
College seemed slightly easier and life in general seemed to get easier with the thought of having Mass Effect 3 released in the near future. Then intel dropped the bomb! Well, Bioware announced that Mass Effect 3 was being pushed back. Same damn thing.

This news, left a really bad effect on me (Pun not intended). It’s like being pregnant for months, getting all excited for the birth of your child then one day you get told by the doctors that your child isn’t ready to come out yet. You try to remain calm and optimistic, I mean you’ve waited for months already another month will not hurt right? Only you are not waiting for another month to give birth, you are waiting till next year!
There are discussions and disputes between Mass Effect fans surrounding the change of release date. At first we all settled down with a conclusion that Bioware were torturing us this way in order to make the game perfect. (The baby is in womb not ready to come out yet, still developing apparently. That’s okay however, you want your child healthy and at it’s best when it enters the world.)
Then there were rumours about Mass Effect 3 being postponed because they wanted to add in Kinect features and Multiplayer mode.
(More or less running tests on your unborn child, fitting it with electro-chips to alter it’s appearance and genetic traits. The undying love for that baby tells you that the child is perfect just the way they are. They do not have to change.)
Why am I using all of this metaphorical nonsense you say? I personally do not like children, yes I am an awful human being. Trust me even when I was a damn child I disliked my age group. However this is not the point of the guide. The point is that I am trying to appeal to your motherly side, or fatherly side, take your pick.
Why try to fix something that doesn’t need to be fixed? Mass Effect = Your son/daughter (They are perfect just the way the are.) If and I use ‘if’ as the key word here. If these rumours are the case then I can understand why Bioware are doing it.
Mass Effect 3 is the big finale, they are looking at attracting old audiences and new audiences. But dare I say Bioware, you unfortunately cannot please everybody. You have to pick a side. Loyal Mass Effect players or new Mass Effect players?
I would never deny someone the right to play Mass Effect, but I am honestly against changing things that will end up bringing in more players instead of pleasing the fan-base they already have.
I don’t want to sound harsh here really I don’t. Bioware studios have a unique passion for their games that I have not seen in a long time.
I am just clinging onto the hope that they are pushing Mass Effect 3 back to give characters more depth, to sort out the bugs and to polish up the levels.
Take care of my baby Casey! Okay that sounded wrong on so many levels. Regardless the tumour of a sentence stays.
So with all this commotion going on have you ever just sat there for a second and thought to yourself, “Andraste’s knicker weasels what am I going to do with myself now?”
If yes then feel free to read on, if not then this is extremely awkward and I apologise for wasting those ever so precious minutes of your life.

STEP ONE: Let all of your emotions out
A real man (or woman) is comfortable with crying. If there is huge build up of intense salty tears in your eyes then please, just let them out. Or maybe the news made you angry rather then sad? In that case please, find a punching bag or pillow (we don’t discriminate here) and punch the living daylights out of it. Better yet something I do when I can feel a fan-girl scream creep up my throat is scream into a pillow. Perhaps the news left you emotionless, a hollowed out vessel left to drift on through life until you are revived? I will not allow this! However if you reacted unpleasantly to the news, do not bottle up how you feel. This series is a masterpiece, you all have every right to get emotional. The first step to surviving till the 6th of March is getting all of the emotional bits out of the way, and accepting the fact that you are going to have to wait till next year for the shining light that is Mass Effect 3.

STEP TWO: Make Mass Effect friends

Believe it not my fellow effectors you are not alone. Many of us are trembling with anticipation for Mass Effect 3. One thing I noticed when the news struck me? I had nobody to talk to about how saddened I was by the push-back or how excited I was about it still coming out. My friends in general despise Mass Effect. Maker’s breath that sentence hurt to write. As you guessed because of their utter hatred for the game I couldn’t actually talk to them about it which sucked. In all fairness however they probably hate Mass Effect because I spend more hours with it than them. The amount of times I have gave up on giving excuses and just settled for honesty by saying, “Sorry I can’t come out, I’m playing Mass Effect”  is actually quite laughable. Mind you I’m sure they don’t find it amusing…I’m a bad friend. I eventually cracked under the wisdom that talking to yourself will only sate you for so long.  So I went online scouring the internet for others like me, and ladies and gentlemen there are fans just like you. They can be found on Youtube, Tumblr, Bioware’s site…A common interest in Mass Effect is known to build the greatest bonds in friendships. Okay I made that up, but I genuinely believe that theory of mine. Talking to other fans about Mass Effect 1 & 2 or your hopes for 3 helps a great deal. Not only does it gain you friends and helps you socialise but it does help you get through the months leading up to Mass Effect 3.

STEP THREE: Make a Tumblr account
I am aware that I am promoting the site but you’ll have to trust me that I am gaining nothing out of this. This step is a friendly piece of advice that you may choose to ignore if it doesn’t appeal to you. I had a Tumblr account just laying around once, it was unused and I admittedly didn’t like the site that much. For starters I find it hard to adjust to new sites, and technology (besides gaming platforms) always leaves me confused. That’s when I randomly typed in ‘Mass Effect’ on the search tags bar and I can honestly say that I haven’t looked back. By having my Tumblr account not only do I burst into fits of giggles over some of the Mass Effect posts but I am given information regarding Bioware and Mass Effect 3. This is also a chance to meet really cool people who love Mass Effect just as much as you. Tumblr is a place where you could literally post something about how heartbroken you are about Kaidan or Ashley dumping your arse on Horizon and people will comfort you. The same applies to venting out your frustrations or dreams about ME3. It’s another escapism to occupy your time and actually benefit you.

STEP FOUR: Unleash your creative side
Do you know what’s so great about Mass Effect? Come to think of it games in general. Everybody and I mean everybody has a place or can get involved one way or another. It’s nice to think that while you are painfully awaiting the arrival of Mass Effect 3 that you can actually gain some new skills or brush up on some things that involve one of your favourite games. After squirming my way inside the fandom that is Mass Effect I realised that many players were busy doing something Mass Effect related. Here’s a few tasks or hobbies that you might want to give a go;

-Fan-art (Whether to improve your skills or learn how to draw.)

-Fan-videos (If you’re quite into media and filming you can teach yourself to make fan-music videos or simply learn how to edit certain scenes of the game for a laugh.)

-Fan-Fiction (If you enjoy writing or feel the need to write some hardcore smut after the head-bump with Garrus, *Ahem* or simply to brush up on your writing skills with a subject you enjoy.)

-Achievement Hunting/Trophy hunting (The feeling of getting every achievement in Mass Effect 1 & 2 is orgasmic, well not orgasmic but close enough. *Smug alert* I should know having achieved this myself, DLC included. But seriously it’s a reason to play the games again or to discover new aspects of it by trying to get the achievements. It’s a good way to keep busy till ME3.)

-Sing/Write songs (Do you have a decent voice, or do you just enjoy singing? Then start writing your own Mass Effect related songs, it’s a chance to have some fun while being incredibly creative about the game you adore.)

-Cosplay (Get your friends together or just yourself and make your own Shepard, Grunt, Thane, Miranda, Garrus etc. costume. It’s a hobby and the feeling of accomplishment afterwards is complete bliss.)

These suggestions are only some of the ways that you can get creative with Mass Effect. I personally achievement hunt, write/sing songs that are Mass Effect related and write fan-fiction. I tried the art route and discovered that I am not a very good artist. Honestly doing things like these is fun and will make the months go by so quickly. You might even find yourself appreciating the Mass Effect franchise even more.

STEP FIVE: Buy Mass Effect merchandise
It might be worth taking a look at. Don’t get me wrong the shirts (The good ones) are a tad expensive but hey Bioware has to make a profit I guess.

Ever heard of retail therapy? It actually works, buying some Mass Effect gear will cheer you up and remind you that the Reapers are coming…next year. I am not trying to force you to buy anything I am simply suggesting it. They have T-shirts, replicas, figures, books, comics, bags, caps etc.

Personally from the Bioware store I have bought a ‘I *dragon* Alistair’ shirt (Dragon Age related), a ‘Zevran Approves’ shirt for my friend’s christmas present (Dragon Age related), a Garrus shirt (I desperately had to have it) and three of the Mass Effect books.

Confession time: I actually bought the Mass Effect books off of Play.com my sincere apologies Bioware but I couldn’t keep on affording the postage and packaging on top of the asking price. Forgive me?! Retail therapy will always be there to get you through the hard times.

STEP SIX: Read the Mass Effect books
If none of the steps above are doing it for you then Andraste’s flaming sword this will! The books give you so much depth into the Mass Effect story. Drew Karpyshyn wherever you are, thank you for writing them. Down below are the books in order if you do not know about them.

Mass Effect: Revelation:

This is basically the backstory of Saren and Captain Anderson. It will also introduce the character Kaylee Sanders who is a BAMF dare I say. This novel sets the scene for Mass Effect 1 and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Mass Effect: Ascension

This one holds a special place in my heart. It focuses more around Cerberus and a young powerful human biotic called Gillian. It features Kaylee Sanders again and Gillian’s father Paul Grayson. You also get to learn a lot about the Flotilla from this. Definitely worth reading.

Mass Effect: Retribution

Currently reading this one. I don’t want to give too much away, let’s just say you don’t cross The Illusive Man and get away with it huh? Features Kaylee, Paul and Anderson.

Mass Effect: Deception:

This is the book you got to look forward to next when it’s released. I already spoiled the storyline for myself by accident like I always do. This shall not be your fate dear reader. Just trust me, it is going to be awesome. It’s not written by Drew sadly but I can accept the change.

Of course to get all of these novels it will cost you money. I would honestly suggest scouring the net for some low prices and seriously giving them a read. They are really good and it’s something to look forward to if you ever feel the Mass Effect 3 depression coming on. I got mine by the way on Play.com cheap and free delivery cha-ching!

STEP SEVEN: Read Mass Effect related fan-fiction
Whatever your taste, the fan-fiction world has it. If it doesn’t it is as simple as heading to http://masseffectkink.livejournal.com/2320.html and submitting a request. Updates on new chapters of Mass Effect fictions is something to look forward to other than Mass Effect 3. There are some hilarious and really good writers out there that can be as smutty or as creative as you want them to be.
You want Fluff? Smut? GarrusxThane pairing? Hey it’s your life, ship who you want. It’s a great way of learning new writing skills, new words and more importantly being entertained.

I personally ship Garrus and Shepard hard. So if you want to check these out, they are currently my favourite Mass Effect fan-fictions at the moment.

Enemies Like You And Me by Warlord Fil (Smut, very well written and creative where Shepard and Garrus meet during the First Contact War.)

Masses to Masses by iNf3ctioNZ (A awesome series, self insert fic, hilarious and entertaining, lots of Garrus.)

Shades of Night by Faerlyte (A fiction I adore that is very creative about Pallin and a girl named Pilar. Might get smutty in the next update, hopefully.)

We Were Heroes Once by december.s-flower (Very angsty, honestly the most angsty fiction I have ever read. I actually managed to finish this long story but couldn’t bring myself to read the series that followed. Reason being that it was just a tad too angsty for me, but throughout I noticed that it was very well written, very creative and features Thane and Shepard.)

Vulnerability by Tree Wyrm (The first proper fan-fiction I read that involved me reading a sex scene, also the first fan-fiction that actually made me cry. Well written, quite emotional, featuring Garrus and Shepard.)

The Garrus Vakarian List by LockDown (As you guessed this is about Garrus, and is absolutely hilarious. Think Chuck Norris.)

Admittedly my list is a bit biased in terms of Turians, Garrus and sexy times…It’s an addiction what can I say? Regardless it’s something to get you started. There are many more fictions out there that are worthy of recognition but I would be here forever if I listed them all.

www.fanfiction.net (The site to visit for more fan-fictions)

You guys still with me? Don’t die! I can’t handle anymore deaths on the team, damn it Mordin why?!  Why did you force me to reload the whole suicide mission in order to save your butt?!

STEP EIGHT: Play other games
It isn’t betrayal…not technically speaking anyway. Let’s put this in terms of Dragon Age shall we? I know how much you love the metaphors.

This is Alistair from Dragon Age: Origins another great Bioware game in my humble opinion. Now for argument’s sake Alistair metaphorically symbolises the game ‘Mass Effect’.
Alistair = Mass Effect
Entiendo?

This is Zevran who is also from Dragon Age: Origins. Now here for argument’s sake he can be whatever game you want him to be. For the sake of naming him for this awful metaphorical explanation which I am already losing track of, Zevran now symbolises ‘Assassins Creed: Brotherhood’.
(I just realised that Zev is an assassin and he represents AC:B I literally put down the first game that came to my head, honestly. That’s quite funny…because he is an Antivan assassin…Okay it isn’t….Moving ever so awkwardly on…)

 Zevran = Assassins Creed: Brotherhood
Comprende?

Now where was I going with this?…Ah yes. So Alistair (Mass Effect ) enters your life and now you can’t imagine being without him (it.). You stay dedicated to him throughout the relationship (gameplay) while waiting for him to actually have sex with you (while waiting for Mass Effect 3 to come out.)
Zevran (AC:B) the party member (game) is casually sitting around the campsite (casually waiting to be played.) You dare not speak  (play) with him (it) you are sworn (devoted) to Alistair (Mass Effect) through better or worse. However let us be realistic. You really want to get laid (Play a game) and Alistair (Mass Effect 3) is just not putting (coming) out yet. It’s okay to sleep (play) with Zevran (AC:B) in the meantime. Alistair (Mass Effect ) will forgive you and rock your world later on in life.

I feel dirty and clinical…
Seriously though there is a point here…somewhere…
It is okay to play other games, you are better off not doing what I did for a while and just take a long break from Mass Effect. The last thing you want is to find Mass Effect boring from overplaying it. There are other good games out there.

STEP NINE: Listen to Mass Effect music

Believe it or not listening to a game’s soundtrack is a good way to deal with withdrawal.  I suffered from withdrawal when I tried to stop myself from spending too much time on Elder Scrolls 4. You’re tired but cannot sleep because you need your fix of the game. So I downloaded the Oblivion soundtrack and fell asleep to it every night and let me tell you, it helped. Five months clean. Thank you, thank you no need to clap!
I also noticed that whenever I listen to my favourite music from games that it cheers me up. So if you’re feeling down switch on some game-related music and you should feel better. It’s a few minutes away from the fact that you still have to wait till next year for Mass Effect 3.
Also like a I mentioned earlier people do fan-songs that I tend to really enjoy so you might want to check them out to help your ME3 depression.

Kabuto The Python  (NERDCORE!)

Gembat (Mass Effect, Dragon Age and other covers)

Amixia (Dragon Age and Mass Effect songs)

STEP TEN: Wait

Expecting a grand finale? My apologies. This is I’m afraid the full guide to getting through this. No matter what method you try ‘Step ten’ will always be involved. Unless you cryogenically freeze yourself to the 6th of March 2012 then ‘Step ten’ does not apply and you are very lucky to own a cryogenic pod. I for one own a freezer that I can’t fit in so I have to fall back on these steps.

However all jokes aside guys there’s nothing we can do but make the waiting bearable, and if I know Bioware Mass Effect 3 will be worth the wait.

Just keep optimistic and together my Effectors we will get through this and play the masterpiece of a game that we deserve, which hopefully involves a Reaper landing on Velarn’s head.

If you haven’t done so yet, Andrew Spinks aka Redigit has created a twitter account. @Demilogic’s very first tweet shed some serious light on when we will be seeing Terraria’s next patch 1.0.6!

@Demilogic: Hopefully we will have 1.0.6 ready early next week.

What are you hoping to see in the next patch?

According to their latest press release for the Witcher 2 on Xbox 360, CDProjekt RED has some bad news for fans awaiting the release of the 360 port.

We have decided not to withhold information and to tell our fans immediately of the Xbox 360 launch moving to Q1 2012. As we have stated many times before, The Witcher 2 for Xbox 360 will be an adaptation and not regular port. The extra time will allow us to polish the title to perfection, so that the game offers an ideally balanced, fantastic experience to gamers. As the launch of the game approaches, we will be sharing more details how it will be released on Xbox 360. I trust that despite the release date shift, players will be satisfied with what we are planning for them. -Adam Kicinski, President of CD PROJEKT RED S.A.

While this is unfortunate, we are happy that they have decided to take their time on this one. It is far better to wait 6 months and receive a faithful and less buggy product that to get a rushed mess.

It’s no big surprise that Sony has been leading the console war recently with the large amount of exclusives it continues to deliver. We have already seen a slew this year with inFamous 2, Killzone 3, Little Big Planet 2 and Socom 4 and the future will only get better for Sony and its upcoming first party games. Everyone knows that Sony has the best exclusive lineup, so we here at Gaming Irresponsibly are going to take a look at the top PlayStation 3 exclusives that are coming soon to a console near you.

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception – Release Date: November 1st, 2011

We can all agree that this is the most anticipated exclusive that Sony has in store. It has been met with limitless hype, and tons of industry praise, winning multiple Best of E3 2011 awards across a vast sea of gaming sites. The multiplayer beta was a smash hit and the first two installments were stellar. This one however, looks to top the rest of the series. Look for Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception early November.

Journey – Release Date: TBA

Probably the most anticipated PSN title of all time, the makers of Flower will be bringing you another instant classic, Journey. Flower was a huge hit and Journey looks to expand on that success. Although a release date is not yet announced, as soon as it is, fans of this game will be salivating until the day it goes live.

Resistance 3 – Release Date: September 6th, 2011

Those of you that bought Battle: Los Angeles got a sneak peak of Resistance 3. And with less than two months left to wait, I am sure Resistance fans are getting a little jittery. Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 were both hits on the PS3 and are available for purchase in the Resistance Greatest Hits Dual Pack which features some exclusive Resistance 3 content. The third installment of the franchise will also be Move compatible for those of you that enjoy motion control.

Twisted Metal – Release Date: October 4th, 2011

It has been a long time since we have seen a new Twisted Metal, and David Jaffe is making sure the next time you see it, that it is gonna be awesome. Twisted Metal lost some of the steam it once had when it debuted on the original PlayStation, but hype is building around this title with the revamp of Twisted Metal receiving Best of E3 2011 praise. If this Twisted Metal is anything like the first, we are all in for a treat of vehicular combat.

Starhawk – Release Date: 2012

This new title from the creators of Warhawk is a third person shooter adventure. It will feature large-scale battles (much like Warhawk) of 32 players online and includes a full single player campaign and offline/online cooperative play. If Starhawk can deliver a bigger punch than Warhawk did, this game should be one to watch for in 2012.

ICO and Shadow of the Colossus Collection – Release Date: September 27th, 2011

We have all played these games, and if you haven’t, you are dead to us. Hands down two of the greatest games to ever grace the PlayStation 2, ICO and Shadow of Colossus were developed by Team ICO and have garnered tons of praise in the gaming community. It is a pleasure that they are going to be offered together in stunning HD, Trophies, and full stereoscopic 3D. Winning.

The Last Guardian – Release Date: TBA

And if the above title is any indication, The Last Guardian is sure to be a Game of the Year candidate. With the unbelievable hardware of the PS3, The Last Guardian will no doubt look amazing. And if it can deliver the same epic story with emotional ties as the previous two Team ICO games, watch out.

Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One – Release Date: October 18th, 2011

It has been a while since we last saw good ole Ratchet & Clank, but they are back in an all new title Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One. Insomniac Games brings 4 player cooperative play play and is sure to be a hit on the PS3. Due out in mid October, Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One will definetly be a game for you PlayStation 3 owners to get excited about.

There you have it, the most anticipated exclusives Sony has to offer. Did we miss anything? What other PlayStation 3 Exclusives are you excited about in the coming months? Leave us some comments below and tell us what’s on your mind.

The title says it all here folks. There has been a lot of rumors and speculation as of late about the development and/or fate of Kingdom Hearts 3. With the latest rumor that Kingdom Hearts 3D will contain some hints of what we can expect in the 3rd and potentially final installment of the widely enjoyed Kingdom Hearts franchise, we take a look at what we are hoping to see when the 3rd game finally makes it’s appearance.

A stronger Final Fantasy representation:

We have seen appearances in the previous games by characters from FF7 and FF8, how awesome would it be to throw some of the older (or newer) characters into the mix. Imagine teaming up with Terra to fight Kefka and his army of heartless or even once again teaming up with Cloud to travel a land that is themed after Midgar. The possibilities are quite expansive, with Square Enix’s massive catalog of characters is amazing, Ramza and Delita or Cecil and Golbez, all of these characters could easily fit within the KH story.

Actually acknowledging the one Disney story that fits KH like a glove:

I hope you know which movie I am talking about here. The Black Cauldron was a classic that nearly killed Disney in the same way ET killed the Atari 2600. Funny thing about The Black Cauldron though was that it wasn’t a bad movie, viewers expected the movie to be more like the happy go lucky Disney movies pre 1985. The Black Cauldron’s themes and environments fit the Kingdom Hearts mold like the game was made to feature Tarin and his mystical blade battling against the Horned King and the Cauldron Born. Sora and crew would fit right in, smashing the undead like Ash Williams on a good day.

More secret sidequests/optional bosses:

Listen, I may sound like a masochist here but I really enjoy the optional boss battles the KH has always had to offer. The Phantom at the clock tower, fighting Sephiroth or even Kurt Zisa were challenges and that made it fun in itself. Only the best players beat those bosses! I became a roll master after besting Sephiroth around level 65. Also, optional modes like Riku’s story in Chain of Memories was quite awesome as well. These features pushed us in the past to continue to play and get stronger, I would love to see the next game make full use of this and really give the players something to talk about.

A clear and concise idea of what is going on:

Really, I have played through all the games and with the Heartless, Nobodies, Organization XIII and Xenmas, I’ve lost track of what is up and what is down. So Riku is a good guy that lost his path? Sora is alive but dead at the same time? What happened to Kairi? Do those kids have parents? All these questions and many more are still open, let’s now even crack open the book on what was Birth by Sleep. I’d love to see the closure given to this series that it deserves. Well, that or Riku could get possessed again by the darkness and fatally wound Sora who in turn dispatches Riku. After finally getting the other story members to their respective lands, Sora could pass away and find out that everyone agreed to meet again in the afterlife. Wait? That has already been used to try to fill up plot holes? Dang…
