Today (4/4) Square-Enix announced that they would be bringing Final Fantasy V to the PSN soon. Part of me is extremely excited about this, since I loved the game, but this has to bring about a question. What the hell happened to Final Fantasy VI (Arguably) the best console game of all time?
Now the talk of a 3DS remake does excite me, don’t get me wrong, does a powerhouse company like SE not realize that a remake or HD rerelease of VI would be the biggest thing to bear the Final Fantasy moniker in quite a while? I know there has been “technical issues” regarding a rerelease but seriously, this IS the crown gem of the series (FFVII fans: Sorry, you know this to be true).
Since it’s release VI has had run ins with Playstation, GBA and Wii’s virtual console. All of these are great but there have been several generations of console that have passed since this time. (Wii doesn’t count, it never does…)
So SE, please listen: We don’t want to wait, what do we look like, waiters? We do not want to see a remake of FFVII, show us a worthwhile remake of FFVI and watch how Final Fantasy is revitalized!

I totally agree, even though I loved FF7, an HD remake of FF6 would blow everyones mind
I would love to re-experience this FF, the music is epic. The story’s amazing, I love the fact that it there are so many unique characters in your party and each has a full and engaging history. I love how there are certain parts in the game where you need to alternate between 2 or even 3 parties to progress. The magic/esper system was great; everyone could learn all the spells, but the fact that everyone had a unique ability kept the characters from feeling generic and interchangeable.
The only risk of an HD remake is that some of the comedic animations, personalities and some scenes will be lost in translation from 16bit -> HD. And let’s face it, the thing is that this HD remake would shine as bright as it could is if it were still a text based adventure. But in this day and age not having your main cast voiced is like still using a Nokia 3310 and I fear adding voices to the cast is gonna tarnish my fond memories of this game and its characters.
I do agree that voice acting would scare me a bit. Although honestly SE usually does a pretty good job with that…
I agree with the HD remake of Final Fantasy VI. I mean yeah because it has even more memorable characters than that of FFVII. Im not saying that FF7 sux its just that it’s too overrated meaning that other good FF titles have been pushed aside, but no longer will this happen. I demand an FF6 remake. Not 2 mention KEFKA was & still is a better villain than Sephiroth.
Sephiroth wanted to become a GOD.
Kefka became a GOD, and destroyed the world halfway through Final Fantasy VI.

I’ve had this argument before as well! Sephiroth was just upset at his own existence, Kefka was homicidal (actually genocidal is more appropriate) and just wanted everyone to die.
